Fiber Swaps!

Here are some of the lovely fibers from fellow swappers on swap-bot.com! I LOVE how they are all so different. I think I might use them all to make a wild and crazy coffee cup cozy. To the bucket list!!

And these are some of the yarns that I sent out! They are wrapped around a postcard with a recipe for yummy New England Clam Chowdah! (Don't tell anyone, but I actually prefer Manhattan style...they don't even sell the Cambell's version in the stores up here in New England.)

BEWARE the Molar Monster!

OK, I have to admit that I am really proud of this little guy. He's for a real-life-friend who I happened to be partnered with in a swap-bot swap. (http://www.swap-bot.com/ Go there. Become addicted.) He's in the mail and I can't wait to find out if she likes him!!

He's made out of this random, but neat, wool blend from Kenneth Cole's Fall 2000 collection. (If you can believe the tag) I got it at a discount fabric store in PA that gets really neat fabrics that must have been manufacturing left overs. This was one that was so insanely ugly and unique that I bought it years ago knowing that there must be a project that I would have to have it for in the future. And now I am vindicated! Enter the Molar Monster!

The Molar Monster has pretty fluttery white wings to disguise himself as the tooth fairy while he sneaks into your room at night to give you cavities. I used iridescent dimensional fabric paint on polyester organza and to "finger paint" wings on a silicone sheet. (Wasn't coming in handy in the kitchen, so I stole it for the craft room.) I peeled it of and cut around the edge. There was no raveling since the paint sealed it up! Soooooo easy. I'm going to have to remember this method.
A little cavity here...a little cavity there... and wah-la!

Ta-da!!!

I've finally done it!! I've begun a blog :) I am a blogger. Wooooo hooo!

I've been dabbling with the notion for an embarrassingly long period of time, so this is a huge accomplishment for me.

It feels pretty blank at the moment, but hopefully that will change. I've started a "blogging bucket list" of all the projects I want to share! Maybe I'll even go a little wild and put up tutorials (gasp!)

I hope you enjoy my little corner of the blogosphere and come back to visit. Please drop me a line!
